A Mudra for the Lunar New Year: Ushas Mudra for claiming the peace, prosperity, and possibility available to you now
Claim peace, prosperity, and possibility.
Ushas Mudra is a gesture of presence, clarity, and claiming what is available to you. It supports moments when you’re ready to recognize opportunity and potential without controlling or forcing anything. This mudra helps unify mind, body, and breath, supporting mental clarity, circulation throughout the body, and a steady relationship with the present moment — where peace, prosperity, and possibility already exist for you.
The Lunar New Year offers a ritual way to begin again, guided by the rhythm of the moon rather than any pressure of the calendar. It typically begins on the first new moon that lands in late January or early to mid-February and is celebrated until the following full moon lights up the sky. It is one of the most celebrated holidays in many Asian cultures. It is a time to welcome and enjoy good luck, fortune, and happiness! This threshold invites perspective, curiosity, and openness to what wants to unfold next. Ushas Mudra supports this energy by helping you stay grounded and present as you consciously claim what you’re ready to receive.
The following practice is part of our Lunar New Year Workbook, where the ritual flows through embodied exploration of the animals of the Chinese Zodiac — 🐀 Rat, 🐂 Ox, 🐅 Tiger, 🐇 Rabbit, 🐉 Dragon, 🐍 Snake, 🐎 Horse, 🐐 Goat, 🐒 Monkey, 🐓 Rooster, 🐕 Dog, and 🐖 Pig. Rather than learning these energies intellectually, you’re invited to feel them in your body and notice what resonates as you move into the Lunar Year.
Practice this mudra anytime you want to claim peace, prosperity, and possibility — and orient yourself toward the Lunar New Year with steadiness, embodiment, and care. If you’d like to experience this ritual live, look for the Lunar New Year Embodied Ritual on our class schedule, where we move through the workbook together as a guided, embodied experience.
