Madhyama Mudra: balance your energy, remember your personal power, and center in your truth
You have energy. You use it on behalf of others in wonderful ways. And you deserve to save some of it for yourself.
Madhyama Mudra is a gesture of the middle, the balance point, your center. Madhyama means middle, and here it refers to your middle finger. When you join the tips of your middle fingers together in front of your solar plexus, your breath and your awareness drop into your belly, the home of your personal power. During Libra Season, when balance and fairness come into focus, this shape supports you in honestly seeing your own level of physical, mental, and emotional energy and where, how, and for whom you are using it.
Madhyama Mudra activates the fire element and opens your solar plexus chakra, your center of confidence and choice. It releases tension from your mid back and improves circulation to your adrenal glands, resting on top of your kidneys. They are the glands that meet whatever your day asks of you by providing the energy you need to navigate it.
So while very aligned when Libra energy is activated, it is just as supportive anytime you want to work with your fire or return to a clear sense of how you want to use your energy.
Align with the energy of balance and personal power through this mudra and the practices that accompany it.

Why practice Madhyama Mudra:
Practice Madhyama Mudra to return to your own middle and remember that your energy is yours. From your balance point, you get to anchor in your personal power and choose how you want to use your energy.
How to practice Madhyama Mudra:
Find any comfortable seat. Bring your hands in front of your belly with your palms facing you and your fingers pointing toward each other. Gently join the tips of your middle fingers together and let your other fingers relax inward. Hold your elbows slightly away from your body with your forearms parallel to the Earth. Soften your shoulders and align your spine.
🧘🏻♀️ MEDITATION: Centered In Truth
WHY:
Practice this meditation to remember that balance and truth are already yours. Your breath releases in four equal parts, each stabilized by your diaphragm. Your mantra moves through a whole cycle each time, and each one brings you even closer to your natural center.
PLACE:
Gently come to a comfortable seat on the floor or a pillow, cushion, or chair. Anchor both sit bones evenly and align your shoulders over your hips.
MUDRA:
Invitation to find Madhyama Mudra.
DRISHTI:
Soften or close your eyes if that feels safe and comfortable.
PRANAYAMA:
Inhale deeply and fully through your nose. Pause. Exhale in four equal parts through your nose.
MANTRA:
Invitation to mentally attach the mantra SA - TA - NA - MA to your exhale, one syllable per each piece of breath. SA TA NA MA carries a whole cycle in four syllables. Each exhale completes one, and each completion brings you a little closer to what was always true all along.
SUGGESTED TIMING:
3-5 minutes.
TO END:
After an exhale, release control of your breath and sit with your mudra as you let the energy you have gathered center you.
✨ MANTRA:
My natural state is balance and truth
I hope you always remember your natural state is balance and truth, regardless of how far you drift from your center.
