Pisces New Moon Mudra: Ishvara — a practice for emotional and intuitive intelligence, soul-deep trust, and dreaming wildly
Welcome to the Pisces New Moon:
The Pisces New Moon invites you to soften your edges and loosen your grip on control. As the last new moon of the astrological year — Pisces being the final sign of the zodiac — this lunation carries a special invitation to close out this cycle with intention, to allow what is meant for you to flow toward you, and just as importantly, to let everything else flow away so you can dream forward into what's coming. This lunation reminds you that your emotions are wise, your intuition is sacred, and your dreams are a powerful portal into what's possible. As the sun and moon meet in this deeply spiritual water sign, you are invited to move beyond logic and into trust — to float, to feel, to receive. Let this moon carry you inward, where your soul already knows the way.
Our featured Ishvara Mudra embodies this dreamy Pisces energy — a hand shape that cultivates inner sense, serenity, and peace. This mudra gently anchors your awareness inward, creating a still and spacious container so your intuition can rise and your emotional wisdom can be received with compassion and trust. You could also pair this practice with the reflections or embodiment practices in the Pisces New Moon Embodied Workbook if you'd like to work more intentionally with this lunar energy, or with the Pisces Season Workbook if you feel called to continue deepening your relationship with Pisces's wisdom.
And if you'd like to move through the lunar cycles in community, our memberships are here to hold you — with live classes, recorded practices, new and full moon workbooks, and an ever-growing library of supportive tools. Check out ways to practice mudras and more with our empowering yoga community on our live class schedule.
Katrina Marie Yoga is a supportive space to practice, reflect, and remember that you don't have to carry everything alone. You can simply start where the moon is — right here, right now — and allow her to guide you back to your own sense of serenity, intuition, and soul-deep trust.
Above all, let this Pisces New Moon remind you that your emotions are messengers, your intuition is a compass, and your wildest dreams are worthy of your belief. Take what you need and leave what you don't. Perhaps begin right here, with this mudra and the practices that support emotional intelligence, inner peace, and the courage to dream bigger.
🫶🏻Practice Ishvara Mudra:
WHEN
Around the Pisces New Moon, when both the sun and moon align in Pisces's deeply spiritual, watery energy of emotional + intuitive intelligence, soul-deep trust, and reflecting on your wildest dreams.
WHY:
The Pisces New Moon invites you to move beyond logic and into surrender — not from passivity, but from deep trust in your emotions, your intuition, and the universe's support. Ishvara Mudra cultivates inner sense, serenity, and peace, helping you soften your edges and create the spaciousness needed to receive your own inner knowing. This practice offers a still, sacred container so your dreams can be felt, your emotions can be honored as messengers, and your intuition can rise as your truest guide.
Benefits:
cultivates inner sense, serenity, and peace
supports emotional awareness and intuitive intelligence
helps soften the nervous system and quiet mental chatter
encourages surrender and trust in yourself and the universe
creates spaciousness for dreams, reflection, and deep feeling
supports the ability to observe emotions without being mastered by them
HOW:
Find a comfortable seated place, adding support under your sit bones if that feels nourishing.
Interlace your fingers outside your hands.
Align and extend your pinkies together and your index fingers together.
Rest your forearms against your torso comfortably with your extended fingers pointing outward.
Soften your shoulders and align your spine.
BREATHE:
Begin Ujjayi Breath to connect to the boundlessness of the water element and the breath. This oceanic breath soothes the nervous system and invites you to remember how powerful and expansive you truly are.
Breathe slowly and deeply in and out through your nose.
Put a little hug in the back of your throat so you can feel and hear the oceanic quality of your breath as it moves through your body.
Sense the breath move like a wave and focus on remembering that you are made of the same powerful and boundless water as the ocean.
Continue for 3–5 minutes, allowing the breath to carry you deeper inward with each cycle.
When you're ready, release control of the breath and continue holding the mudra in quiet awareness.
MANTRA:
Repeat silently or out loud as you hold the mudra, allowing the words to settle into your body and guide your intention for this new moon:
I honor the wisdom of my emotions.
I trust the intelligence of my intuition.
I surrender to the magic of my wildest dreams.
EMBODY YOUR INTENTION:
After an exhale, release the mudra and allow your hands to rest where they feel most at home. Take a moment to notice what has shifted — even subtly.
Where in your life are you ready to trust yourself more completely?
What emotions are arising as messengers, asking to be felt and heard?
What dream feels too big to believe — and what if you let yourself believe it anyway?
Let your body answer.
Let your breath guide you.
Let serenity and inner knowing illuminate your next step.
Set an intention on this Pisces New Moon to move forward with emotional intelligence, soul-deep trust, and openness to your wildest dreams — one breath, one feeling, one surrender at a time.
You may choose to write your intention down and place it somewhere you'll see it as a reminder throughout this lunar cycle.
May it support you as you flow, feel, and receive.
May this Pisces New Moon support you in honoring the wisdom of your emotions, trusting your intuition, and surrendering to the magic of your wildest dreams.
