A Mudra for Imbolc: Uttarabodhi — reawaken energy and trust the potential unfolding within you.
Things are beginning to reawaken — and you are too.
Uttarabodhi Mudra is a gesture of reawakening, trust, and potential. It supports moments when energy begins to return after a period of rest — not all at once, but on its own time and terms. It supports clarity and connection of mind and heart, openness of the chest and breath, and renewed inspiration. This mudra helps you stay present with what’s current without rushing it forward.
Imbolc is a threshold in the darkness of winter — a time when we acknowledge the value gained in hibernation and start to look forward to the possiblity and potential of the upcoming growth season as well. Uttarabodhi Mudra supports you in working with both, helping you trust what’s emerging while staying grounded and steady in the present.
Imbolc arrives during Aquarius season, which in its lighter expression, supports perspective, insight, and future vision. Rather than pushing for answers, this energy invites you to trust the direction your potential wants to take. Uttarabodhi Mudra helps you work with this quality gently, supporting trust, clarity, and openness as potential begins to reveal itself.
Practice this mudra anytime you want to support reawakening, trust what’s beginning to move, and stay connected to your own timing as you move into what’s next for you.

🧘🏻♀️MEDITATION: Awakened Potential
WHY:
Practice this meditation to support embodied reawakening through breath and sensation. This practice helps you reconnect with the rhythm of your breath, open the chest, and support respiratory health as energy slowly returns. It offers a steady, grounded way to sit with what is present and sense what is coming
PLACE:
Gently come to a comfortable seat on the floor, or on a pillow, cushion, or chair. Allow both sit bones to feel grounded and supported as your shoulders naturally align over your hips.
MUDRA:
Invitation to find Uttarabodhi Mudra by interlacing your hands in front of you with your left pinky finger on the bottom. Extend your index fingers up together and your thumbs down together. Hold this shape comfortably in front of your heart as your shoulders soften and your spine aligns naturally.
PRANAYAMA:
Take a few deep belly breaths to connect with the movement of your belly as you breathe. With each inhale, your belly expands, and with each exhale, it moves back to your spine. Begin Five Element Breath (essentially a SLOW breath of fire) by making your exhales a bit more powerful. Really hug your navel back to your spine as you powerfully send air out through your nose. Let each inhale slowly follow each exhale. As you draw air back in through your nose, feel your belly fully fill. Continue for 1-3 minutes
DRISHTI:
As you settle into your breath, if it feels safe and comfortable, allow your eyelids to soften and close.
TO END:
To close, take one full deep inhale and one easy exhale before releasing control of your breath and pausing to feel and sense. Then spend some time reading or declaring the following mantras and/or creating your own Imbolc mantras.
✨IMBOLC MANTRAS:
I honor the wisdom I have gathered
I allow my energy to reawaken in its own time
I feel inspiration move through me
I acknowledge the potential within me
I nourish myself as I reawaken
I respect the pace of my growth
I trust myself as I move into the next season of my truth
May this practice help you stay present with what’s reawakening and trust the potential that is building.
