Matangi Mudra: honor your fire, transform your energy, and liberate your authentic self

There is fire in you. And it is trying to tell you something.

Matangi Mudra is a practice for that fire. It supports transformation, authentic power, and the digestion of big emotions so they can move through you and become something purposeful. It connects to the solar plexus, cultivates self-esteem, and helps you find the real you beneath the heat.

During Aries season, that fire can feel even more intense. The shadow energy of Aries might have it feeling like anger, impatience, urgency, or a sharpness that feels unfamiliar. And that doesn’t mean something is wrong with you. It simply indicates the energy is big and it is looking for direction.

Underneath all of it is a question worth sitting with. Not what is wrong with me, but who am I really, and what does my fire want to become?

This mudra helps you find out.

🫶🏻MUDRA: Matangi

Benefits of Matangi Mudra:

  • supports transformation of fear and anger into clarity and action

  • builds energy, determination, and follow-through

  • supports healthy digestion of difficult emotions

  • cultivates self-esteem and inner confidence

  • encourages honest self-expression and authentic voice

  • activates personal power from the center outward

  • activates Manipura (Solar Plexus Chakra) for agency and self-trust

  • connects to the fire element for purposeful transformation

Why practice Matangi Mudra:

Practice Matangi Mudra when you notice you are more reactive than responsive — when impulse is louder than intention, when anger feels bigger than you know what to do with, or when you find yourself pushing hard in a direction that you aren’t sure feels like you. This mudra supports you in digesting those experiences rather than suppressing or acting from them. It helps you return to your center, reconnect with your authentic self, and channel the fire within you into something purposeful. This is not about ignoring what you feel. It is about letting it move through you so you can act from your truth rather than your reactivity.

How to practice Matangi Mudra:

From a comfortable seat, interlace your fingers. Wrap your right thumb over your left. Extend your middle fingers out together so they are aligned and touching. Gently rest the base of your wrists against your solar plexus chakra, just above your navel, with your middle fingers pointing forward comfortably. Soften your shoulders and align your spine.

🧘🏻‍♀️MEDITATION: Transform to Liberate Your Authentic Self

WHY:

Practice this meditation to work with the breath and body as anchors when big emotions are present. The segmented breath and solar plexus focus give your energy somewhere intentional to move, so what you are feeling can be digested and transformed rather than suppressed. Your fire is welcome here!

PLACE:

Find any comfortable seat. Perhaps add support to get your hips a little higher than your knees.
