Libra New Moon Mudra: Purna Hridaya — open your heart and breath to restore peace, beauty, and heart-centered harmony with the Libra New Moon
Welcome to the Libra New Moon:
This Libra New Moon invites you to recalibrate — to soften into balance, beauty, and heart-centered harmony. It reminds you that your relationships, especially the one with yourself, are sacred ground for healing. As the sun and moon meet in this air sign, you’re invited to listen inward and return to the quiet truth that lives in your body, breath, and heart.
Our featured Purna Hridaya Mudra reflects this same energy of harmony — a simple, heart-centered shape to help you feel supported, balanced, and at peace. You can use this mudra as an anchor for your Libra New Moon ritual. You could also pair it with the reflections or movement practices from the Libra New Moon Embodied Workbook if you’d like to explore the energy more deeply, or with the Libra Season Workbook if you’d like to continue the ritual through all of Libra Season.
And if you’d like to move through the lunar cycles in community, our memberships are here for you. We hold safe space through live studio and virtual classes, new and full moon workbooks, astrological season workbooks, and an ever-growing library of on-demand content. Check out ways to practice mudras and more with our empowering yoga community on our live class schedule.
Above all, Katrina Marie Yoga is a supportive space to practice, reflect, and remember that you don’t have to do this all at once — or alone. You can simply start where the moon is — right here, right now — and let her guide you back to your own natural rhythm.
So take what you need and leave what you don’t. Perhaps for now, start by aligning with the energy of the Libra New Moon through the following mudra and the tools that accompany it.
🫶🏻Practice Purna Hridaya Mudra:
WHEN
Around the Libra New Moon, when both the moon and sun are aligned in Libra’s energy of peace, balance, and heart-centered harmony.
WHY:
The Libra New Moon is a time to restore inner balance and return to your heart’s natural rhythm. This practice invites harmony where there has been tension and opens the space for beauty to flow within and around you.
Benefits:
Opens the chest, heart, and breath
Cultivates balance between giving and receiving
Encourages compassion and emotional awareness
Harmonizes and honors both thoughts and feelings
Supports connection and peace within relationships
Promotes psycho-emotional well-being and integration
Supports your anahata, or heart chakra
Connects you to the air element
HOW:
Find a comfortable seat where your spine feels aligned and supported. Perhaps sit on the edge of a bolster, pillow, or folded blanket to allow your hips to soften and your heart to lift.
Interlace the tips of your fingers so they connect with one another, palms facing down in front of you. Extend your thumbs down to touch at their tips, forming a heart shape. Hold this gently in front of your own heart space.
Soften your shoulders away from your ears and naturally align your spine. Let your elbows rest comfortably near your sides.
Soften your gaze or close your eyes if that feels safe, and bring your awareness to the space of your heart.
BREATHE:
Pause at the bottom of your next breath then begin to…
Inhale gently through your nose for a count of five.
Pause briefly at the top of your breath.
Exhale through your nose for a count of five.
Pause briefly at the bottom.
Continue this steady rhythm for 3–5 minutes, keeping the inhale and exhale equal in length. Let each breath move through your heart space—balancing effort and ease, inviting calm into every corner of your body.
If it feels right, imagine each breath creating waves of harmony that flow through your chest, shoulders, and spine.
MANTRA:
Repeat these mantras silently or aloud as you hold the mudra.
Allow their rhythm to synchronize with your breath—letting each repetition draw you deeper into the energy of the Libra New Moon.
With each breath, I return to balance.
I see beauty within and around me.
I embody heart-centered harmony.
EMBODY YOUR INTENTION:
After an exhale, release control of your breath. Let your hands rest wherever you feel called, perhaps on your own heart. Take a moment to notice how you feel.
Can you sense qualities of balance, beauty, and harmony here? Where do they live in your body now?
As you rest here, invite a new moon intention to rise from that space. Let it come naturally, as sensation, emotion, or quiet knowing. Breathe it into your body, anchoring it with love and awareness. Perhaps write your intention down and place it somewhere you can see throughout this season of the moon and life.
May it guide you gently through this lunar cycle.
May this Libra New Moon bring you back to balance, beauty, and heart-centered harmony.
